Quest Gala charity event raises QAR 1,070,000 for Education Above All Foundation
On May 10 2018, the annual Quest Gala 2018 dinner was held at the Palazzo Ballroom, Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl-Doha, which raised a total of QAR 1,070,000 through a public auction of 11 valued art pieces by some of Qatar’s leading philanthropists, art collectors and high-profile artists, who attended the ceremony. The event was supported by a number of official sponsors, including Alfardan Group, Anima Gallery, Marsa Malaz Kempinski, Busatti Milano, Commercial Bank of Qatar, Qatar Airways, Gulf Colours, AlBahie Auction house, among others.
The Gala, now on its third year, was aimed at raising funds for the Education Above All Foundation to support their programs that support children’s right to learn, where children around the world lack access to basic primary education. All proceeds from this dinner will be going towards Rohiyngha refugee children education in Bangladesh and, to Educate Girls project in India.
Omniah Omar Alfardan said that organizing the event was aimed at improving the conditions of underprivileged children, who are unable to get decent education due to barriers such as poverty, conflict and natural disasters, through the Education Above All Foundation. She noted that the gala auction reflects the ability of young people like her to make a positive impact in the world.
She added: “Holding this event for Education Above All is part of our moral and social values towards education’s role in building future generations who will lead and create a more secure future for humanity. We are keen to see the significant outcome of these efforts and fulfill its mission inspired by the vision of our wise leadership, which considers education as among its top priorities. Our goal is to set an example for the coming generations to take the same footsteps and create real opportunities for improving the lives of children by equipping them with proper knowledge. We renew our commitment to support Education Above All and its projects, this year through the Rohinyga and Educate Girls projects, to ensure that every child has access to quality education as the cornerstone in achieving the desired change we hope to see in many communities around the world.”
In 2017, the gala event successfully solicited QAR 1,030,000 and featured unique and rare art pieces, including paintings, sculptures, abayas, watches, photographs and jewellery designed by Omniah Omar Alfardan.
