Doha, Qatar – 15 April 2025: Michelin-Recommended Peruvian restaurant La Mar by Gastón Acurio, has reopened its doors following an exciting transformation. The revitalised space welcomes guests to an immersive experience that pays homage to Peru's coastal roots through bold design, curated art, and a vibrant new atmosphere across the restaurant, bar, and terrace.

The redesign captures the warmth and spirit of Peru, blending cultural storytelling and breathing new life into the space whilst remaining true to the soul of La Mar. Drawing from the country's rich heritage, every corner of La Mar Doha has been thoughtfully reimagined to reflect the flavours and traditions of its origins.

A tribute to La Mar's deep connection to the sea is woven throughout the interiors. Subtle references to the ocean appear in layered shades of blue, handpicked tiles inspired by nautical patterns, and flowing chain curtains that evoke the movement of waves. Sculptural steel artwork by Pool Guillen, depicting native fish and traditional fishing boats, punctuates the walls, layered with rose gold screens designed on fish scale shapes, provide a modern edge.

At the heart of the dining area, two breathtaking 3D reed woven octopus and squid hang suspended from the ceiling. These intricate reed sculptures, crafted in Lima by David Goicochea, embody one of Peru's oldest art forms. Their presence anchors the space with depth and cultural significance, offering a tactile expression of the country's artisanal legacy.

The Cebiche Bar remains a centrepiece of the dining experience decorated with illustrations of marine life, the counter offers an interactive culinary stage where chefs prepare the freshest catch of the day. It's a sensory introduction to La Mar's world-class seafood offering and an invitation to explore the essence of Peruvian cuisine.

The design continues to draw from maritime traditions with handcrafted nautical knots by Tahani Khaled, and striking entrance features by Jesús Pedraglio Belmont. These structural forms, inspired by floating buoys and wrapped in ropework, welcome guests into a space where storytelling begins the moment they arrive.

One of the most colourful features within the restaurant is a woven textile wall created by Belmont, showcasing vivid fabrics that bring Peru's diverse identity to life through intricate patterns and bold hues. Deep-rooted in the tapestry of Peru's cultural landscape, the intricate textile art brings the vibrant colours and complex patterns that reflect the country's surroundings.

Adding to the evolution of La Mar Doha is the reinvented Nikkei Bar, now embodying an uber-cool aesthetic with a bold, expressive design. Maximalist details such as woven pendant lighting, patterned flooring, colour-drenched ceiling, and neon tube lighting create a lively, high-energy space ideal for sipping on signature cocktails and enjoying Nikkei small plates in style.

The refreshed terrace has also been uplifted with a more communal approach to outdoor dining. Lounge-style seating offer a relaxed, family-style atmosphere, all set against ionic views of Doha's skyline – a perfect setting for sunset moments and shared meals by the shore.
