Grand Opening of Salama Doha's new Moroccan seaside restaurant on Al Maha Island
At the crossroads of tradition and modernity, Salama takes patrons on an Oriental journey of higher taste, followed by vibrant entertainment in the late hours.
Rooted in the rich culinary heritage of Morocco, glamoured up in the French Riviera and now broadening its horizons, Salama is opening its first GCC restaurant in the heart of fashionable Al Maha Island in Doha, on Friday, May 17, 2024.
The flamboyant concept was originally created in 1999 by a French couple, Frédérique and Fabrice Dorel, in buzzing Saint-Tropez and Cannes. In 2024, Mohamed Hedi Mardassi, founder of Holdmar and instigator of the project, acquired the brand and developed a partnership with Aura Group International to bring Salama to the thriving Qatari market.
“With Salama, we ambition to create the GCC’s premiere destination for Moroccan gastronomy, with its unique blend of Riviera chic and warm Oriental hospitality,” says Mohamed Hedi Mardassi. “It is a privilege for us to trust the concept to such established talent as Aura Group International,” he continues.
Imagined by Chef Ramdane Djebarri - who made the glory days of Momo’s Restaurant and Mamounia Lounge in London - the 1001 flavours of Salama will unfold as a modern-day tale of Moroccan cuisine, from the much-anticipated and re-invented fresh salads, briouates, pastillas, couscous, tagines, to delicious main courses and Josper-grilled meats. Desserts will provide a sublime conclusion to the dining experience, with such signatures as the Mar’rakshi Millefeuille, Oriental Crème Brûlée and Orange Blossom Ile Flottante to name a few.
To complement the remarkable culinary creations, the bar menu will take guests to the legendary Spice Route, infusing timeless classics with arabesque spices, herbs, fragrances and flavours, as a prelude to nights of elegant music and entertainment.
In true Old Continent style, a team of passionate connoisseurs, embodying the essence of sophistication and charm, will infuse the experience with a delightful blend of grace and playfulness, creating engaging table-side moments that will leave guests enchanted and longing for more.
Finally, Salama unveils an exclusive gateway to the breathtaking allure of the French Riviera. Nestled amidst pristine sands and shimmering azure waters, its private beach embodies an atmosphere of refined sophistication and carefree indulgence inviting guests to savor the epitome of luxurious relaxation in a setting that transcends the ordinary.
“We are absolutely thrilled to introduce Salama to the blooming culinary landscape of Doha,” concludes Yasser Zein, CEO of Aura Group. “The concept is a welcome addition to our own exciting portfolio of high-end brands, perfectly suited to the taste of the market and delightfully disruptive all at once.”
