  • Each year the WISE Awards recognize and shine a spotlight on six innovative projects that are addressing global educational challenges and generating positive societal impact.
  • In the last 15 years, WISE has attracted over 5,300 applications from more than 151 countries.
  • Through its platform, WISE is actively building a community of education innovators that creates a nurturing environment for future trailblazing collaborations.
  • The six global winners of WISE 2023 Awards are:

  1. Tekwill in Every School – one of Moldova’s largest educational programs created to offer Moldovan students equal educational opportunities to match IT sector market needs.
  2. International Common Assessment of Numeracy (ICAN) - an easy-to-use, low-cost assessment tool created to measure children’s foundational numeracy in the Global South and monitor progress of UN’s SDG 4 on quality education.
  3. NaTakallam: A Different Kind of Language Learning – a language service that leverages technology to employ refugees, offering them a chance to work as tutors, cultural exchange instructors, and translators, with a wider aim to build intercultural bridges.
  4. Ahlan Simsim – an initiative focused on early childhood development and playful learning of children affected by conflict and crisis in the Middle East established by Jordan’s Sesame Workshop jointly with the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
  5. Nature-Based Education Networks – Under a mission to reconnect youth to nature and people to the Earth to build more sustainable communities, an NGO in Columbia partners with its Ministry of Environment to create countrywide nature-based networks. These networks work to promote the people and nature relationship, encouraging individuals to become planetary stewards and agents of positive social wellbeing.
  6. Catalyzing ECE at Scale – Rocket Learning, an edtech in India, builds early childhood and foundational learning at scale by connecting the government system, teachers, workers, and parents via an innovative, low-cost digital model that delivers contextualized content in the local language via ‘bot’ over WhatsApp groups essentially forming vibrant digital communities.
