Qatar’s one and only shopping, dining and entertainment destination hosted a series of engaging activities to mark the occasion of International Women’s Day including an empowering Panel Discussion, E-Gaming Tournaments, and Launch of New Offers for Ladies Club Membership Programme

Doha, Qatar – 12 March 2022: Doha Festival City, Qatar's one and only choice for shopping, dining, and entertainment, celebrated International Women’s Day with a panel discussion on women’s empowerment in partnership with Harper’s Bazaar Qatar at L’ETO Café.

The Mall collaborated with Harper’s Bazaar Qatar for a private panel discussion, to discuss women’s empowerment with successful female representatives, both Qatari and expat, from various fields such as sports, arts, business, and beauty.

The panel discussion held at L’ETO Café was moderated by Bianca Bonomi, ITP Publisher, and featured trailblazing speakers including Muna Al-Bader, artist and IT engineer; Aisha Al Jaidah, entrepreneur, and Valeria Mazzei, student and business owner.

In her welcoming speech, Nehal Maher, Doha Festival City’s Senior Marketing Manager, said, “This is a day dedicated to celebrating women’s achievements in various social, economic, and cultural fields.  Moreover, it is a day to acknowledge the value and importance of women in our lives and all around the world.”

“On International Women’s Day, we reflect on gender discrimination and obstacles that hinder women from fulfilling their potential. This year’s theme is empowering women and breaking the bias, and we are lucky to live in this time and place where women are encouraged to be active members in society and the economy. Women have proved themselves as a creative force in any field they put their minds into,” she added.

As a member of the Doha Festival City’s senior management, Maher highlighted the establishment as a workplace that actively empowers women, highlighting women in leadership positions.

During the event, Maher reminded the guests about the exclusive offerings of the Ladies Club membership programme. Launched last year, the programme avails its members a wide array of discounts and special offers at more than 33 of their favourite cafés, shops, and restaurants. Participants also enjoyed a dreamy floral set up by Au Nom De la Rose and received a very chic giveaway bag from Harvey Nichols Doha and Charlotte Tilbury and complimentary access to Virtuocity.

As Qatar’s largest world-class entertainment destination, Doha Festival City invites women to enjoy exceptional experiences at their theme parks: Angry Birds World, Virtuocity, and Snow Dunes. In celebration of International Women’s Day, Virtuocity, the largest e-gaming venue in Qatar, is empowering female e-gamers to flourish in the e-gaming scene by hosting “Queen of the Hill” Tournaments for three different games i.e., Fortnite, Valorant, and Super Smash Bros.

Doha Festival City is applying the stringiest safety protocols to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Customers are required to show their green EHTERAZ status at the entrance of the mall and to wear a mask during their visit to Doha Festival City, except while dining. Social distancing stickers have been placed throughout the mall to ensure customers are following the safe distance measures.

Doha Festival City’s opening hours are Saturday to Wednesday from 10 am to 10 pm, and Thursday to Friday from 10 am to 11 pm (closed during Friday prayers from 11:30 am to 1 pm). In line with the preventative measures set out by the State of Qatar to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), and to ensure a safe shopping environment for all, Doha Festival City commits itself to continuous stringent health and safety measures throughout the mall. This includes a thorough mall disinfection treatment on a weekly basis, robust cleaning, and sanitization operations during mall trading hours, 127 hand sanitizing stations installed in the areas that have commonly touched surfaces.
