Al Khaliji launches donation drive in support of the Qatar Cancer Society
Doha, Qatar, Jun 2, 2019: Under the umbrella of its humanitarian and continuous commitment to Qatari society, Al Khaliji Commercial Bank (al khaliji) P.Q.S.C., Qatar’s next generation bank, has announced its donation support of the Qatar Cancer Society (QSC), a non-profit organization working under the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities toward awareness around cancer and cancer prevention in Qatar.
On behalf of al khaliji, Mr. Nawaf Telfat, the bank’s Head of SMEs (small-to-medium enterprises), presented a donation cheque to Mr. Ammar Al-Mashhadani the head of Public Relation Department, from the Qatar Cancer Society. The donation funds were raised through a campaign launched by al khaliji during Ramadan, strengthening the bank’s social bonds with and rallying customers behind its charitable work in the spirit of the Holy Month.
Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Nawaf Telfat, Head of SMEs at al khaliji, said:
“Our support of charitable organizations like Qatar Cancer Society through donations and other means is a strategic backbone of al khaliji’s goals and mission. We are immensely proud to be supporting QCS under our corporate social responsibility program and more so, under our commitment to demonstrating our loyalty to our nation and local community. In the spirit of togetherness and charitable values of the Holy Month, there is no better time for this donation drive.
Our donation to QCS will, in return, support the society in its relentless efforts to provide the best medical and psychological treatments and services for cancer patients’ well-being, and strengthen the social bonds that sit at the very center of our ethos and culture as an organization.”
The Qatar Cancer Society pledges to work toward raising public awareness, preventing and curing cancer through research, education, communication and collaboration. Through its programs and services, the society’s public awareness efforts center on causes, preventive measures, potential treatments, and early diagnosis for the illness in the State of Qatar. Other services it extends include the provision of treatments for resident patients with limited financial means for cancer treatment.
In its mission, the society has built solid partnerships in garnering support in all forms from institutions operating in the market, at the service of its educational and awareness mission, and in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which has been focused on building a knowledgeable generation that can transform the Qatari social and scientific landscape.
Al khaliji’s initiative falls under the umbrella of the bank’s continuous efforts in support of the local community; an extension to its corporate social responsibility commitment to fulfilling the Qatar National Vision 2030’s four central pillars around sustainable human and social development.
It is one of many such testaments by al khaliji to its commitment to the development of Qatari society, and one of many of the bank’s initiatives and programs aimed at raising public awareness and consciousness around important social causes.
