Doha, Qatar 17 February 2019: Barwa Bank hosted a fun and engaging sports program for all its employees, in support of the eighth National Sport Day in collaboration with Al Ahli Sports Club.

 The bank’s participation in the National Sport Day is in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to create awareness on the importance of sports and fitness in achieving a sound and healthy lifestyle, which, in turn, helps in the development of a strong, prosperous society.

The Group’s employees and members from the executive management participated in the event along with their families. Activities and sports events included rope challenge, climbing challenge, golf, yoga session, kids section, and a football match.  For children below five years, a kids area was arranged for them to enjoy the day along with their families. Furthermore, a mobile clinic from Hamad Medical Corporation was present to offer different health check-ups for the participants such as: blood sugar test, weight, blood pressure etc. 

The National Sport Day was launched in 2012 to develop a physically and psychologically active and healthy society where individuals can build their capabilities and interact with their social environment. It seeks to educate people on the importance of physical activity and help develop and promote a culture of healthy living in the Qatari society. It further engages people in active and entertaining activities and provides information about different sport activities in the State.
