Masterclasses and sensational VIP events for Doha’s foodie’s community

Doha, Qatar- 29, September 2021: Vertigo, the latest pan-Asian restaurant in Doha by Banyan Tree at La Cigale Mushaireb, has announced that it will be hosting Mexican Celebrity Chef, author, TV host and keynote speaker, Chef Aquiles Chavez from 5 to 9 October 2021 at the sky-high Vertigo restaurant. 

The notable chef will take part in several culinary experiences including a special soiree on the 5th of October that will be attended by key media figures, influencers, and VIPs. Guests are also welcomed to make their reservations to join us for this exclusive night and to meet and greet our celebrity guest.

Chef Chavez will work hand in hand with Chef Jose Alejandro Valenzuela Reyes (Alex), Vertigo’s Head Chef, to offer guests a distinctive gastronomic journey that combines the passion and creativity of both chefs. With the breathtaking 360 view of Doha’s unique Skyline, this special menu promises to be a night to remember. 

Guests can look forward to a set of limited-edition dishes that include a full-course menu to be enjoyed in the restaurant between 5-9 October 2021. Starters include Guacamole as well as Tuna Tartare, while the main dishes feature the Flauta De Borrego, a succulent lamb stew, the Hamour En Mole, a juicy catch cooked with a special green mole sauce and the signature Wagyu Slow Cooked Short Rib. For dessert, the Chocolate Jango will be the star with chili chocolate mousse, raspberry jelly, and caramel glaze. 

During his stay, Chef Aquiles Chavez will conduct two live cooking masterclasses for culinary connoisseurs, on the 6th and 7th of the month. Those interested will be able to join the class and enjoy a delectable 3 course meal to conclude their experience, for only QAR300/person. The menu includes a tasty Mexican Ceviche, a slow cooked Wagyu Short Rib with Kimchi BBQ, and the Chocolate Janco. Each session will have a maximum capacity of 30pax and will be booked on a first-come-first-served basis.

Chef Aquiles Chavez started his career in 2004 in Paris, moving to India, and on to Mexico and US where he went on to open his own restaurants. He has also served as TV host for top favorites El toque de Aquiles, Aquilísimo and Motochefs, which broadcasted on the Fox network throughout Latin America, and starred in a reality show called Achilles in Houston. He is the author of The Kitchen and The Follies of Achilles, as well as other books. 

Chef Reyes is a veteran chef with over 13 years of experience in Pan Asian and Latin American cuisine. He grew up in his grandfather´s kitchen where he was constantly cooking up Mexican dishes, and where he was inspired by how cooking brings people together. He has worked with several leading restaurants around the world and has extensive knowledge of pan-Asian and Latin cuisines. Chef Reyes currently serves as the Executive Chef for Vertigo Restaurant at Banyan Tree Hotel. 

Located on level 28 of Banyan Tree Hotel, Vertigo Doha is one of the highest lounges in the Mushaireb area with incredible 360-degree views of Doha’s Skyline, Corniche, and old city. The restaurant offers an experience like no other with a creative beverage menu, mixology inventions and Pan-Asian cuisine with a Mediterranean twist in a lively set up with music.
