al Khaliji Bank organizes session on Corporate Banking for Northumbria University students

In collaboration with Qatar Finance and Business Academy

Doha, October 31, 2018 –    Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) P.Q.S.C., Qatar’s next generation bank, in collaboration with Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) recently organized an lecture on corporate banking and  it’s contributions the Qatari  economy,  to students of Northumbria University in Qatar. The session comes as part of the banks continued efforts to provide comprehensive information to students about the various functions and departments within the banking industry.

The session was hosted by Mr. Paul Maguire, al khaliji’s Group Chief Business Officer, who discussed in detail  how al khaliji’s is a ‘trusted advisor’ to its corporate clients as well as how the corporate team, work with clients to support their longer term growth plans. 

“A key priority of Qatar’s National Vision 2030 is to invest in people by providing them with high quality education. Al khaliji’s participation in these sessions fully supports this goal and the process of creating a new generation of financial leaders,” said Maguire.

He added, 
“This knowledge sharing session was held in line with the Bank’s strategic objective of providing students with real life and practical examples to support the knowledge gained through their studies. By familiarizing students with banking operations, al khaliji also aims to assist them in making the most informed choice in enhancing their careers.”

Through the special event, al khaliji has put its many years of experience and the expertise of its senior executives at the fingertips of Qatar’s younger generation of aspiring professionals, while helping them to gain a new perspective on banking and finance as a sound career choice.

Thanking al khaliji for this initiative, Professor Naser Ibrahim Abumustafa, the Director of Programs & Professor of Finance at QFBA Northumbria University said, “We are grateful to al khaliji Bank for their commitment in sharing expertise of its senior executives to Qatar’s younger generation of aspiring university students, while helping them to gain a new perspective on banking and finance as a sound career choice.  Sessions like these will give more insights for the next generation of leaders by ensuring that they possess the competencies that will maximize their potential.

The Northumbria University in Qatar offers degrees in Accounting, Finance & Investments and International Banking that have been approved by Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education.  The university, located at Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), is providing an opportunity for high school graduates who are looking for a university degree from a UK-based university located in Qatar. The scientific and professional programs of the University have been designed to meet the needs of the labor market in Qatar.

The session witnessed the participation of a large number of Northumbria students, who were keen on interacting and discussing the topics as well as learning more about al khaliji as a leading financial institution in Qatar, and the country’s banking sector as a whole.
