Doha-Qatar –18 March 2018:   As part of its ongoing support for local agricultural products and entrepreneurs, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company QSC (Al Meera), launched an initiative called, ‘Products from Qatar’ at Al Meera Hypermarket, Hyatt Plaza.

The inauguration event was graced by Mr. Yousef Al Khulaifi- Director of Agriculture affairs department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Eng. Salah Al-Hammadi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Al Meera, Mr. Hayder Haydri, representative of Gourmet (fruits and vegetable suppliers of Al Meera) and several representatives from the local farms.

Following the inauguration, the dignitaries made a short tour of the vegetables and fruits section at Al Meera Hypermarket, Hyatt Plaza.

The initiative is set to offer local producers and startups in the food industry with prominent shelf space at its Al Meera Hypermarket, Hyatt Plaza, thereby providing entrepreneurs in the country with a premium platform to introduce their products to the market and sell them to consumers.

The “Products from Qatar’ initiative comes in the context of Al Meera’s commitment to local farms by providing them with an ideal platform, through which they can establish and grow their presence in the marketplace and usher in a new wave of opportunities for cooperation and business partnership that directly contributes to Qatar’s food security program,” Al Meera said in a statement.

“At Al Meera, our procurement policy lays emphasis on sourcing goods and services from the local market in line with our key strategic direction of contributing to social, community and local business partnerships. Through this outstanding step, we are not only taking the idea of proactively supporting entrepreneurship in the country to the next level, but also setting up a role model for national institutions and corporations in Qatar to follow, with the aim of collectively achieving the economic development objectives as envisaged in the Qatar National Vision 2030,”the company statement said.
