Doha, Qatar – 8 April 2017:  The Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) recently celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mental Health Friends Association “Weyak”, in the framework of implementing QFSW’s plans and programs that strengthen partnerships with relevant stakeholders and key players in the State of Qatar, in addition to jointly contributing to boosting the collective work of civil society organizations, for the benefit of the Qatari civil society as a whole.

Her Excellency Ms. Amaal Bint Abdul Latif Al Mannai, QFSW’s CEO, signed the MoU with His Excellency Mr. Hassan Bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Weyak’s Vice Chairman, in the context of QFSW affiliate centers’ signing of cooperation protocols with the Weyak association as part of supporting the activities of centers associated with these areas of competence.

Ms. Al Mannai said: “The importance of this partnership comes within the framework of implementing our vision of applying international best practices and adapting them in adherence with what is suitable for the Qatari society, in order to reach the highest levels of social mental health through the use of the latest outreach methods, as well as the qualification and training of psychosocial workers, and the promotion of human rights in areas related to mental health, in addition to strengthening the professional practices of the Qatari society in the fields of mental health and social mental services, in the best interest of the community in Qatar.”

On his part, His Excellency Mr. Hassan Bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Vice Chairman of Weyak’s Board of Directors, expressed his thanks to Ms. Amaal Bint Abdul Latif Al Mannai, QFSW’s CEO. Appreciating the great role played by the Foundation and its affiliate centers, he said: “The memorandum emphasizes the value of cooperation and communication between national institutions, for the benefit of the citizens and residents of our beloved homeland. This agreement also highlights the importance of community partnership in achieving the goals for which the Foundation and the Association were established.”

Al-Ghanim called on all public and private institutions to engage and interact with the Association’s mental health programs through collaborative work and benefiting from the Association’s various projects, which are available to all members of the public who need them.
