Dubai, November 23- Halul Offshore Services Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Milaha, has recently procured a state-of-the-art Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) Ship Handling Simulator, which is the first of its kind in Qatar. Halul is now one of the few companies in the Gulf region to own the Netherlands-built simulator, which is normally used in training schools. Chairman of Milaha, HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Milaha’s President and CEO, Mr. Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai, Halul’s CEO, Mr. Vivek Seth, accompanied by the management teams attended the inauguration of the simulator which was followed by a presentation of its capabilities.

Milaha’s President and CEO, Mr. Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai said: “The use of such modern equipment affirms our longstanding commitment to provide the highest level of training to our staff. This simulator supports the development of our operational capabilities, and will allow Halul to continue to provide innovative solutions to our partners and clients in Qatar and beyond, particularly in today’s challenging market.”

For his part, Halul’s CEO, Mr. Vivek Seth said: “This simulator will significantly add to our crew’s ship handling skills, and help them become better prepared for their next assignment on board our fleet of over 40 vessels. We continue to show our commitment to develop our team and provide a safe and reliable operation for our clients.  Technically speaking, with this simulator we can create scenarios for towing operations like rig moves, berthing, unberthing, and tanker assist operations offshore. The simulator has an option to program for both azimuth and conventional driven vessels. We also have a dynamic positioning system integrated with the simulator.”

In addition to the simulator training, Halul continues to provide other forms of practical on-board training to its crew. This covers safety drills, mooring, unmooring, and dynamic positioning system familiarization, among other operations.
